Immediate release

Montreal, June 6th, 2016Last June 1st, ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity held its annual fundraising cocktail. The Mosaïque event was held under the patronage of Mr. Sylvain Roy, President and Chief Operating Officer of Fiera Capital (Canada). The event was a resounding success exceeding its financial objective and reaching the sum of $159,089 thanks to the sale of nearly 400 tickets and through sponsorships, donations and the proceeds from the auction. As a result of the funds collected during the evening, the Tolerance Caravan, the interactive workshop of ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity, will be able to visit approximately 12,000 students in their classrooms.

It was also on this occasion that the organization remitted the Paul-Gérin-Lajoie Award of Tolerance to two public figures that have excelled in their promotion of respect for diversity and inclusion. The 2016 prizewinners are: author and La Presse columnist, Rima Elkouri, and rapper, Samian. They followed in the esteemed footsteps of last year’s recipient, renowned pianist Oliver Jones. Previous award winners also include Kim Thùy, Dany Turcotte, Maxime Collard and his mother, Dr. Julien, as well as Father Emmett “Pops” Johns.

ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity wishes to thank Mr. Sylvain Roy, patron of the evening and Fiera Capital, the principal sponsor of the event, as well as all his other sponsors, donors and participants. Thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the evening, the organization will continue its important mission to interact with young people to promote respect for differences and engage in dialogue to build an environment free of discrimination and bullying.
