[Translation] “I sincerely thank the Board of Directors and Jean-Pierre Desrosiers for their confidence and I am pleased that we will all continue to support the outstanding fieldwork by the team and the animators who are building a society free of discrimination and bullying. While intolerance is increasing and visible on a daily basis, in all segments of society, young people in schools must, more than ever, be able to learn and grow in an atmosphere of respect, dialogue, brotherhood and inclusion of all differences.”, stated Sébastien Barangé, new Chairman of the Board of ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity.

The members of ENSEMBLE’s Board of Directors wish to thank and commend Jean-Pierre Desrosiers for his immense contribution and dedication to the organization as Chairman of its Board of Directors. A businessman and strongly committed patron, Jean-Pierre Desrosiers, to a great extent, shared his expertise in fundraising and partnership campaigns with the organization so as to ensure its growth and continuity.

About ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity

A leader in diversity education, ENSEMBLE’s mission is to interact with young people from ages 9 to 18 to promote respect for differences and engage in dialogue in order to build an environment free of discrimination, exclusion and bullying.

Through its interactive workshops, the Tolerance Caravans, and youth mobilization programs, the Imprint Projects, ENSEMBLE reaches more than 25,000 young people, on a yearly basis, in elementary and high schools in Quebec, in several fist-nations communities, as well as in certain schools in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario.

ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity began its activities as The Tolerance Foundation, a name it bore for 17 years. Originating during the United Nations’ Year of Tolerance in 1995, the organization was incorporated in 1996. Known and recognized by schools and communities, consulted by government and public bodies (The Bouchard-Taylor Commission on Reasonable Accommodation, Bill 60 - the Charter of Values , National Forum on Bullying, etc.), winner of several awards and distinctions (finalist of the Ensemble Anti-Bullying Award [2015], winner of the Rights and Freedoms Award remitted by the Commission des droits de la personne et de la jeunesse [2010] and the Quebec YMCA Peace Medal Recipients Award [2010]), the organization participates in many round tables, conferences and symposiums. Every year since 2009, the organization has remitted the Paul-Gérin-Lajoie Diversity Award to a public figure in recognition of his or her contribution to the promotion of humanistic values, human rights, the fight against discrimination and inter-cultural bridge-building.
